Corey Gatewood is one of many pipeline, medical students and residents the Physicians Medical Forum (PMF) has supported. Prior to his acceptance in 2016 to medical school at Ohio State University College of Medicine, Corey worked with PMF on: Outreach, awareness and prepared databases on schools, faculty, teachers, students in support of PMF’s Doctors On Board Program, Community Health Ambassadors Internship Program and our Mentoring and Networking initiatives which all support African American/Black and underrepresented minority students who what to become physicians.
Corey also help coordinate the Mock Knot Tying and Suture Clinic; staffed the Physicians Medical Forum’s Exhibit Booth at the Student National Medical Association Annual Medical Education Conference (SNMA AMEC) and other PMF workshops and activities.
Corey provided on-going Program Assistant support for pre-program set-ups, organization of equipment and materials and conference coordination.
Black Men In Medicine Website
Most recently, Corey is one of the creators of the Black Men In Medicine website. Their mission is to demonstrate the excellence put forth by black male physicians and rising students in the medical field, as a means to increase the recruitment of black males in medicine. They also aim to provide a secure platform for minority males to openly discuss the difficult topics we face as minorities in medicine.
Local Doctors Speak Out About Racial Injustice At Statehouse Protest
Protesters from many backgrounds took to the Statehouse Saturday to protest racial injustice but for a portion of the afternoon, the lawn became a sea of white lab coats marching for black lives.
