Dr. Roneesha (Starr) Knight appointed the inaugural Director of Faculty Experience for UCSF at ZSFG

Dr. Roneesha (Starr) Knight

We are excited to announce that Dr. Roneesha (Starr) Knight has accepted the role as the inaugural Director of Faculty Experience for University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) effective December 1, 2020.

This new role was created to be an additional resource to advance the university’s commitment to being an enriching, supportive work environment, where faculty, staff, and trainees at ZSFG are able to flourish. Dr. Knight will partner with many groups across the organization including the UCSF Departments at ZSFG, the ZSFG Dean’s Office, ZSFG Care Experience Team, and UCSF Health, to name a few. In this work she will help identify opportunities for improvement with a particular lens on provider and faculty wellbeing.

image001.pngDr. Knight works as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at ZSFG. In addition to this new role, Dr. Knight will continue to lead the organization as the Emergency Ultrasound Director, the Department of Emergency Medicine Director of Diversity & Inclusion, UCSF Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador Trainer, and a UCSF Faculty Equity Advisor. Dr. Knight was a Class of 2016 John A. Watson Scholar and has received numerous teaching awards, including the UCSF Academy of Medical Educator’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2020.

Dr. Knight received her MD from Medical College of Wisconsin after studying Biology at University of California, Riverside. She joined UCSF faculty in 2012 and prior to that completed her residency at Alameda County Medical Center/Highland Hospital and her fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at UCSF.

Dr. Knight is committed to the community and the mentorship of underrepresented learners by widening the educational pipeline at various stages of training for high school students, undergraduate students, medical students, residents and clinical fellows.
