Community Health Ambassadors Internship Program was started in 2014 by two medical students, who received scholarships from National Medical Fellowships, as part of the California Community Service-Learning Program. Now in its 6th year in 2019, the program aimed to empower African American youth by training them to serve as ambassadors of health and wellness within their family and broader community. All of the students in the program are pursuing their goal to become a physician or pharmacists.

Students will engage in skill building and community health education and promotion, over 5 weeks. The program will culminate in the Ambassadors presenting a pertinent health topic of their choosing. Ambassadors will also be connected with physician and medical students who will advise and assist them in preparing for medical school.
